Casper Poludan
Casper is from Denmark and lived in New York for many years before coming to San Diego. He has studied drumming with some of the world’s greatest teachers and
Casper, from Denmark, grew up in a musical family. His parents put themselves through college by singing in church choir, and his dad was an accomplished jazz pianist. As a kid, Casper was more into the Beatles and Elvis, than jazz, but that changed when the family moved to Brussels and Casper met his first great teacher, Jan de Haas. He also met other really accomplished musicians at The European School and began playing in the school’s brass band, symphony, and jazz band.
Back in Denmark, he toured with folk band Plonk, and with the blues band Tightrope, while gigging and playing in various jazz bands as well.
Moving to New York for studies as a scientist, Casper met his second great teacher, Dom Famularo, who changed Casper’s life forever and took his playing to new levels. While in New York, Casper also met and played with Pat Metheny and other great players on the New York scene.
In San Diego, Casper is the drummer of Banda Bena which fits him well. “It’s a great mix of fusion and jazz, with great vocal elements!”, he says. Casper also writes for the band |
